Sam’s last journey – funeral arrangements

Sam got so much out of writing down how she was feeling and sharing her experiences in this blog. In return we know this platform supported so many others: those of you further away, those of you who knew Sam through someone, those of you close to Sam that wanted to hear how she was doing. So Sam felt it only right that the final post of the blog would include the information and link to watch her funeral. We will never know how many people Sam touched with her honest words and funny stories, but please take comfort in knowing Sam wanted to share her final goodbye with you all able to be a part of it if you so wished.

Please see the information below:

Sam’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday 24th February at 2pm at All Saints Church, Milton, Cambridge. Due to COVID restrictions, there is a maximum of 30 people who have been invited to attend

To ensure as many people as possible are able to feel involved in the service, it will be streamed live and also available to watch for a couple of weeks afterwards.  It can be accessed via the YouTube channel of the church.

Editor’s note – you can view the recording of Sam’s funeral below

Sam’s road trip

As you may have expected Sam is taking one final road trip and we will follow her in a camper van she loved and a Defender that David and Sam travelled in to an Arsenal match.  Arriving at Fen Road to collect Paul (Dad) at approximately 1pm, then onto Waterbeach down the A10 to collect the rest of the family.  We will then return through Waterbeach to the A10, Impington, Girton, Gretton School, Huntingdon Road, Milton Road, All Saints Church.

We invite you to select an area along the funeral route and stand in your bubbles on the path to see Sam on her way, one last time. We kindly ask that you don’t gather near our homes in Milton and Waterbeach.

Please share the route as we wish to give those who cannot attend an opportunity to line the streets (socially distanced of course) to say their final goodbye to Sam.

We are kindly asking guests that if they would like to contribute to please send a donation to Arthur Rank which was an important charity to Sam, and provided Sam with the most respectful palliative care to support us all. We have created a special tribute and donation page where guests can leave messages and donations to Arthur Rank https://samisaacson.muchloved.com/

Please feel no obligation to watch, come to the route or donate, Sam just wanted everyone to feel together, included and comfortable in her kind and thoughtful way she always did.

Signing off,

David, Christian & Vicky
